For a couple who like to entertain friends and family (including their five grandchildren), it was not a functional space. After investing time and money into minor updates and not getting the results they needed, Jennifer and Andy decided it was time to call in the professionals for a full kitchen renovation.

When our Renovation Manager, James, first spoke with Jennifer and Andy about their vision for a new kitchen, their goals were clear. The Simpsons wanted their kitchen to be:
more spacious
more functional, and
more modern.
They had some ideas about the style, materials and layout for their new kitchen but were not sure how to align their vision with the limitations of the space. James was quickly able to assess their needs and finalize a design that would bring their vision to life

The Simpson Kitchen Renovation
ONE
Removing a peninsula that stopped the flow of the kitchen, extending the counter and installing additional cabinetry in its place.
TWO
Making a high-use corner situated between the stove and the sink more functional and accessible by shifting larger appliances and a wall gap over by approximately 18”.
THREE
Taking advantage of the additional space to enlarge the kitchen island to almost double its original size.
In addition to these three main aspects of the renovation, the Eastman Plumbing team also updated the kitchen’s flooring, plumbing and lighting for a fresh, modern and ultra-functional design.

A Last Minute Redesign:
How We Navigated This Renovation Hiccup
Removing the peninsula in the Simpson’s kitchen happened easily. But, when the additional cabinetry was installed, it was not what Jennifer and Andy had envisioned.
This is not unusual. Sometimes a design looks one way on paper and another when you build it in real life.
After consulting with the Simpsons, James and the team were able to re-design, modify and re-install that section of cabinetry in only two days. And, because we were able to use what we had instead of starting over, the cabinet re-design did not significantly add time or expense to the project.
